Stable-Ised PractiPhuel 4.9 kg

Exercise, competition, transport and other stressful events can increase exposure of the upper region of the stomach to gastric contents. PractiPHuel has been developed as a convenient, highly palatable pre-ride gastric support nugget designed to be fed approximately 20–30 minutes before exercise or other stressful situations.

PractiPHuel combines scientifically selected ingredients chosen to support the stomach's natural protective mechanisms, maintain a normal gastric environment and complement good feeding management. Manufactured as a durable and palatable nugget, PractiPHuel can be fed directly from the hand without the need to mix it into a feed, providing a convenient and practical solution for horses at home, at a competition or on the road.

🌊 Marine-Derived Calcium

Marine-derived calcium provides a naturally occurring source of calcium selected for its natural buffering properties. Calcium contributes to maintaining a normal gastric environment, while marine-derived sources are recognised for their excellent bioavailability. As a key component of PractiPHuel's formulation, marine-derived calcium has been included to complement the product's targeted pre-ride nutritional approach.

🛡️ Pectin & Lecithin

Pectin and lecithin have been extensively researched for their role in supporting the stomach's natural protective barrier. Pectin forms a gel-like matrix, while lecithin contributes phospholipids that help maintain the hydrophobic properties of the stomach lining. Together, these ingredients support normal gastric integrity during exercise, transport and other potentially stressful situations.

⚖️ Magnesium Oxide

Magnesium oxide contributes additional natural buffering properties while supplying magnesium, an essential mineral involved in normal muscle and nerve function. Its alkaline nature complements the other ingredients within the formulation, supporting a normal gastric environment prior to exercise.

🌿 Lucerne Meal

Lucerne has long been recognised as a valuable forage for horses requiring nutritional support for gastric health due to its naturally occurring calcium, quality fibre and buffering properties. Within PractiPHuel, lucerne meal provides a highly palatable nugget base while encouraging chewing and saliva production — an important component of the horse's natural gastric defence mechanisms.

⏱️ Rethinking When We Supplement

Traditionally, supplements are added to a horse’s daily feed — often after the horse has already exercised, competed or travelled. PractiPHuel takes a different approach, providing targeted nutritional support before periods of increased gastric challenge.

PractiPHuel offers a proactive approach, providing targeted support when it may be most beneficial — rather than simply when the next feed happens to be. PractiPHuel may also be fed daily as part of a comprehensive gastric health management program alongside adequate forage and sound feeding practices.

🌾 Don't Forget The Forage

While PractiPHuel has been specifically formulated to support normal gastric health before exercise, it should be used alongside good feeding management practices rather than as a replacement for them.

Where practical, offer your horse hay approximately 20–30 minutes before exercise. Chewing long-stemmed forage stimulates saliva production, which naturally contributes to the stomach's buffering capacity, while the fibrous material forms a roughage mat within the stomach. This fibre mat helps to reduce the movement of acidic gastric contents onto the unprotected squamous (upper) region of the stomach during exercise, particularly at faster gaits.

When combined with long-stemmed roughage and good feeding management, PractiPHuel forms part of a practical, evidence-based nutritional strategy to support normal gastric health before riding, competition, transport and other potentially stressful events.
